Bobby Witt Jr. was the fourth overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft, a centerfielder from Clemson University and son of Bobby Witt Sr., who won an MVP award with Seattle in 1995.. He’s got one of those sun-kissed good looks that screams “future star.”

The “top 100 prospects 2021” is the list of top MLB Prospects in 2021. Bobby Witt Jr., one of the top prospects, has arrived and he’s glorious.

Top MLB Prospect Bobby Witt Jr. Has Arrived, and He's Glorious

Unfortunately, when it comes to elite MLB prospects, service-time manipulation is much more than a fad. Most teams intentionally put young players on the bench early in the season to gain greater club control, regardless of whether or not they are ready. Fortunately, the Kansas City Royals will not adopt that strategy with Bobby Witt Jr., a 21-year-old infielder.

Witt is MLB.com’s best prospect in all of baseball for 2022. Unlike last year’s top prospect, Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco, who had to wait until the summer to make his debut, Witt will be able to show off his all-around abilities straight away.

Bobby Witt Jr. was named to the Royals’ Opening Day lineup.

Bobby Witt Jr., a rising star, has joined the Royals in an incredibly apparent move. Witt’s spring line was 407/.448/.741 (11-for-27) in ten games, with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, and one stolen base. He and Adley Rutschman, the first two choices in the 2019 draft, are the top two prospects in MLB.

Witt’s excellent performance at MLB Spring Training in 2021 wasn’t enough to earn him a place on the Opening Day roster in Kansas City. This time, though, such is not the case.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported that baseball’s best prospect has cracked the Royals’ 2022 Opening Day roster after a stellar spring. Witt slashed .407/.448/.741 in 10 games, showing an advanced hit tool with plenty of pop and good speed on the basepaths.

The Royals will put the Texan on the field to see how he performs. The move also reflects the quality of talent in their pipeline.

Kansas City will bring in players with a lot of potential. Shortstop Adalberto Mondesi has struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons, but when he is on the field, he is one of the most explosive players in baseball. Edward Olivares may not start in the outfield, but he has a lot of power. Kyle Isbel is in the same boat. In the rotation, keep an eye on Brady Singer, Kris Bubic, and Daniel Lynch, with right-hander Jackson Kowar likely receiving another shot.

The Royals also have a number of experienced players. Salvador Perez, the All-Star catcher, followed up his $82 million deal by hitting 48 home runs and driving in 121 runs. Andrew Benintendi made a strong comeback in 2021, with Whit Merrifield, the two-time hit leader and speedster, also patrolling the outfield. Zack Greinke was brought back to Kansas City to anchor the pitching staff.

In a rather thin American League Central, the Royals might creep up on some teams, particularly if Witt reaches his superstar potential.

Witt will be the center of attention.

Bobby Witt Jr., like Wander Franco last June, should capture the public’s attention right away.

Witt is a true five-tool performer. He received a 60 on FanGraphs’ raw power and speed scale, indicating his athleticism and potential. There’s a possibility he can develop into a good third baseman (where he’ll start the season), but adjusting to the hot corner might take some time.

Last season, the Royals’ star performed well in the minor leagues. In 124 games, he hit.290/.361/.576 with 33 home runs and 29 steals, virtually equally divided between Double-A and Triple-A level. Witt finally gets his shot in The Show in spring, continuing the momentum from 2021.

It would be a bit of a stretch to expect Witt to succeed right away. Young players need time to iron out the kinks and avoid swing-and-miss traps.

Before going on his unprecedented on-base streak, Franco hit.239 with a.699 OPS in his first 29 games. Jarred Kelenic, a Seattle Mariners prospect, got very little action early in his MLB career before finishing with an.854 OPS in his last 29 games.

Witt isn’t likely to amaze right away. He does, however, have the talents and physical stature to become a superstar. The Royals’ willingness to test what he can accomplish in April should pique baseball fans’ interest.

This year, elite prospects making Opening Day rosters has become something of a pattern.

Other top MLB prospects were also named to Opening Day squads.

On Opening Day, Bobby Witt Jr. won’t be the only young star on the field. Several organizations have opted to provide their best prospects immediate representation.

Spencer Torkelson, a slugger and the No. 1 overall choice in 2020, was on the Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day roster. If it hadn’t been for a foot injury, outfielder Riley Greene would have likely joined him.

Hunter Greene, a tall right-hander with a 104 mph fastball, will enter the Reds’ rotation straight away in Cincinnati. Meanwhile, with 2020 AL Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis out due to injury, Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez might receive the call.

Baseball teams are less interested in exploiting the system and enabling youngsters in the pipeline to show off their skills. It’s a significant bonus in a sport where youthful, star-caliber talent is always in demand.

Witt has a potential to be the most talented of the group. Keep an eye on the infielder for the Royals.
