The NBA has been plagued by its own scandals, but the Lakers’ Consultancy of Phil Jackson predicts that this will be a turning point for basketball. What does it mean for business? Could we see a real change in how teams are run?

The “phil jackson leadership style” is a type of leadership that has been used by Phil Jackson throughout his career. He has led the Lakers to 3 NBA Championships and 2 more finals appearances.

The Lakers' Consultancy of Phil Jackson Speaks to Structural Failures

Phil Jackson has played an important role in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers. Jackson solidified his position as a major figure in team history by winning five NBA championships as head coach of the Lakers and presiding over many dynastic runs, much to Jerry West’s annoyance.

Despite the fact that Jackson is no longer an official member of the NBA, the Lakers are apparently giving him advice on front-office matters. This is a major issue for LA.

The Purple and Gold have a weird power structure that is strangely dependent on former Laker figures like Kurt Rambis. Jackson’s subliminal presence in that dynamic reveals a poor decision by ownership, especially considering the Zen Master’s failings as president of the New York Knicks.

Phil Jackson is said to have a say in the Lakers’ operations.

Despite the fact that he lacks a formal title, Jackson might serve as a consultant for the Lakers.

The Zen Master has been in “regular touch” with governor Jeanie Buss regarding internal matters this season, according to The Athletic. According to the article, Jackson was a big supporter of Frank Vogel’s hiring, which is especially relevant now that the Lakers’ head coach might be fired. The escalating feud between Russell Westbrook and the coaching staff is said to pique Jackson’s attention.

On the one hand, this isn’t the most surprising development.

Jackson and Buss had a love connection that ended in 2016, but the two remained friends after that. Furthermore, Jackson and Rambis have a long-standing friendship. Given Jackson’s previous associations, the organization’s power brokers are likely to say something to him.

Nonetheless, considering Jackson’s disastrous career with the Knicks and problematic relationship with LeBron James, the Lakers’ ongoing support for him seems to be irrational.

Jackson was unable to parlay his coaching prowess into front-office success.

Phil Jackson was given the opportunity to oversee a front office. He was a complete failure.

Before the 2013-14 season, Jackson became the Knicks’ team president. Jackson’s teams finished 117-211 in his four seasons as head coach. His choice of Derek Fisher to replace previous head coach Mike Woodson backfired catastrophically, and he also botched the Carmelo Anthony scenario, with the two publicly exchanging jabs.

Aside from his managerial failings, Jackson’s relationship with LeBron James is famously tumultuous.

According to The Athletic, during an interview in 2016, the 11-time championship-winning head coach used the term “posse” to characterize James’ camp. Both James and Maverick Carter were irritated by the remark. LBJ also publicly chastised Jackson for his handling of ‘Melo’s departure from New York.

There is no compelling reason for Jackson’s voice to be heard in any discussions about the Lakers. Despite this, he remains a towering, sinister influence over the institution. That is exactly the issue.

Is there going to be a battle of wills?

Remember how the Lakers and Clippers were supposed to fight for the spirit of Los Angeles? That currently seems to be the case with the Purple and Gold’s internal affairs.

From a decision-making standpoint, two sides have come to the fore. One symbolizes the old guard, which includes people like Rambis and Phil Jackson. James and the Klutch Sports organization are on the other end of the spectrum.

One may argue that the Lakers made a mistake by giving LeBron so much power. After all, LBJ wanted Westbrook to go to Los Angeles, and look at how that worked out. Still, considering his track record and tumultuous connection with James, Jackson isn’t exactly deserving of useful advice.

Regardless, the Lakers’ dependence on personnel with organizational connections, as well as Jeanie Buss’ uncertainty about how to best handle these challenges, point to a flawed system that might eventually bring the team to its knees.
