A team with a strong rookie class in the 2020 NFL Draft is going to have an easier time trying to collect talent through trades and free agency. Here’s what it would look like for the Los Angeles Rams if they were still on this year’s board.

The “rams draft picks 2022 and 2023” is a five-round mock draft for the Los Angeles Rams. The team will be looking to add talent in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Los Angeles Rams 5-Round 2022 Mock Draft

After defeating the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl 56, the Los Angeles Rams are on a high. In the NFL, repeating is incredibly tough, but Sean McVay and his team will do their hardest.

Von Miller, Robert Woods, and Darious Williams were among the prominent players that left the squad over the summer. The front office will now try to replace them in the NFL Draft of 2022. LA has a number of critical needs, the most pressing of which are cornerback, linebacker, and offensive line. Les Snead, the Rams’ general manager, must be astute, considering the team does not choose until the third round.

The defending Super Bowl winners might approach the forthcoming draft in the following manner.

Zyon McCollum, CB, Sam Houston State, 3rd round, No. 104 overall

If the #Bears wait until Day 3 to draft a CB, I’d target Zyon McCollum from Sam Houston State.

If the Los Angeles Rams don’t sign one of the finest remaining cornerbacks in free agency, they should target the position in the 2022 NFL Draft. Darious Williams, the Jaguars’ starting cornerback, has signed with the team. Donte Deayon seemed to be a good addition, but he remains a free agent, and LA has yet to reach an agreement.

Zyon McCollum is someone the Rams should keep an eye on. After his efforts at the Senior Bowl and the Scouting Combine, the Sam Houston State player has risen up draft boards. With a 4.33 40-yard sprint, he was one of the quickest defensive backs on the team.

Throughout his collegiate football career, McCollum was a ballhawk, amassing 13 interceptions and six forced fumbles in five seasons. Although he didn’t face much competition in the FCS, McCollum offers skills that defensive coach Raheem Morris would be interested in.

McCollum is a perfect combination of size and athleticism, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 199 pounds. His size and ball abilities might make him a starter in Los Angeles. Playing beside All-Pro Jalen Ramsey might help him improve his skills.

Damone Clark, LB, LSU, 4th round, No. 142 overall

Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner is now being pursued by the Rams. General manager Les Snead might address the need for an inside linebacker in the NFL draft if he signs with the Baltimore Ravens instead.

Damone Clark of LSU has a lot of potential, and the Rams must choose him if he falls to the fourth round. The former four-star recruit started two seasons at LSU, compiling 249 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and ten sacks. Clark is a dynamic athlete who can make plays on both sides of the field.

While Clark’s track record is a little shaky, he benefits from playing in the SEC. Every week, the 6-foot-2, 239-pound linebacker faced the best of the best. Because he flies to the football and plays with a high energy and aggressiveness, his athleticism might be a significant complement to an already good defense.

Ernest Jones had a fantastic debut year. Travin Howard is expected to return to the Rams, but Clark might challenge him for the other starting inside linebacker slot.

Cade Mays, OG, Tennessee, Round 5, No. 175 overall

The Rams had a top-10 offense in 2021, but if they want to keep dominating, they’ll need a whole offensive line. When left tackle Andrew Whitworth announced his retirement, the unit took a tremendous punch. Fortunately, Joe Noteboom, who has started 17 games in the last three seasons, has been extended by the club. LA needs to add more depth up front, and that starts with the inside.

The Rams can afford to wait until the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft since it is rather deep in the trenches. Cade Mays comes from the SEC and has a lot of experience. The 6-foot-5, 311-pound Tennessee Volunteers star has experience playing all five offensive line positions. In the NFL, he seems to be most suited as an interior lineman.

Mays has a lot of length and is a superb blocker. He has a nasty streak and an edge to his game. His physicality would be a valuable addition to the squad and locker room, and he’d be welcomed with open arms. He has a good foundation, even if he isn’t the most technically competent offensive lineman in the draft.

Although LA re-signed center Brian Allen, the starting guard positions look to be up for grabs. Mays will most likely be a backup first baseman in this league, but he has the ability to be a starter.
