Life as a top-10 quarterback recruit has many perks, but the biggest by far is getting a free trip to Las Vegas. The Broncos’ Trevor Lawrence and the Panthers’ Kyle Pitts, two of the top QB recruits in the country, earned that freebie this week when the Vegas oddsmakers released their 2018 Preseason All-Rookie Team.
Kyle Pitts and Trevor Lawrence may not get a lot of attention from the NFL media, but the two rookie quarterbacks may be the most accurate betting favorites for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Professional sports betting is about as popular as ever. In 2018 bookies looking to cash in on the sudden surge in popularity placed over 50% of their bets on the NFL, over the course of the season. Two rookie quarterbacks, Trevor Lawrence from Clemson and Kyle Pitts from Oklahoma, are leading the charge, with each winning over $3 million from the 15 top NFL oddsmakers. With the start of the 2021 NFL season less than a month away, Las Vegas bookmakers are already accepting bets on who will win this year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award, and the field is deep.
However, it seems like Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts are the front-runners.
If they have an opportunity to play, the other rookies on this list may have an effect on their teams’ performance, so let’s look at the five favorites.
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (3/1 odds; wager $100 to win $300)
It’s no surprise that Lawrence is at the top of Vegas Insiders’ list. Lawrence, unlike some of the other rookies included, is anticipated to play for the Jags from the start, which may help or hinder his chances of earning the award.
Lawrence may have a tough year ahead of him if rumors from Jaguars camp are accurate and he is suffering right now. Lawrence passed for over 3,100 yards and 24 touchdowns last season at Clemson, which explains why he may be the front-runner in this contest.
Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts (15/2 odds)

Pitts was a standout tight end for the University of Florida Gators. He had 770 receiving yards and 12 touchdown receptions. He was a big reason why Gators quarterback Kyle Trask was a Heisman Trophy contender, and now he’s on a club with one of the best quarterbacks in the game in Matt Ryan.
Ryan passed for 4,581 yards and 26 touchdowns despite the Atlanta Falcons’ struggles last season. Pitts may have a big year with wide receiver Calvin Ridley on the opposite side to relieve some of the burden.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance (8/1 odds)
Despite skipping the spring season to prepare for the NFL, Lance was still a high draft pick in 2021, with the San Francisco 49ers selecting him third overall.
He was at the top of their priority list for a reason. In 2019, Lance passed for over 2,700 yards, 28 touchdowns, and no interceptions.
According to reports from 49ers camp, Lance is vying for the starting quarterback job, but head coach Kyle Shanahan seems to be sticking with Jimmy Garoppolo thus far.
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris (8/1 odds)
The Hall of Fame Game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Aug. 5, generated a lot of hype. It was about former Alabama running back Najee Harris in particular.

This season, Harris should have plenty of chances to show why he deserves to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears quarterback (17/2 odds)
It would be an understatement to call Justin Fields a dark horse in this race. Despite the fact that head coach Matt Nagy has said that Andy Dalton would start over him for the time being, he is already wowing everyone at Chicago Bears training camp.
Fields’ failure to earn Offensive Rookie of the Year may be due to this. If he is given a chance to shine, the other contenders on this list may be eliminated.

It’s been a year like no other for the young quarterbacks of the NFL.
