While the Golden State Warriors are on vacation this week, all eyes will be on Klay Thompson as he prepares to take on the Los Angeles Lakers next week. Since the NBA All-Star Game will be played at the Staples Center, the Warriors are expected to be without their star player as the game pits the Eastern Conference against the Western Conference.
It’s no secret that the Golden State Warriors will be facing an overwhelming amount of NBA competition when the 2017-18 season tips off later this month. After all, the Dubs are just one of the teams that make up the Warriors-Warriors of 2017-18, which is about as rare as playing the first six games of the season in a Golden State Warriors jersey.
The Golden State Warriors star has been training for a grudge match with the Clippers, but he’s also been training with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.. Read more about manny pacquiao next fight and let us know what you think.
Klay Thompson will not go down without a fight after missing two complete NBA seasons due to injury. And if the battle lasts 12 rounds with 12-ounce gloves, the Golden State Warriors guard will be well prepared.
Manny Pacquiao claims to have struck a contract with Thompson in which the five-time NBA All-Star and the multi-time world boxing champion would share their secrets to success in their respective sports.

Klay Thompson joined the Warriors as a first-round draft choice in 2011 and quickly established himself as a stalwart. Thompson made his permanent debut in the starting lineup on March 13, 2012, and has never looked back.
Over the course of eight seasons, Thompson missed a total of 25 regular-season games, demonstrating his ability as a great perimeter shooter and earning two All-NBA Team choices. In 2019, he was again named to the All-Defensive Team. Thompson developed himself as an exceptional NBA player while surrounded by top-tier talent such as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green.
Thompson, on the other hand, is now on the road to recovery, and the trip is shaping up to be a watershed moment in his career. Thompson seemed to be on his way to winning his fourth NBA title when the Warriors faced the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals, but he was forced to miss Game 3 due to a strained left hamstring. In Game 4, he returned and helped cut the Raptors’ series advantage to 3-2 the next game.
Thompson, on the other hand, tore his ACL in his left knee in Game 6. Thompson was very likely to miss the next season as a result of the injury, which not only contributed to a series-ending defeat. In September 2020, he rejoined Golden State for practice, with the goal of returning to game action in late December for the start of the following NBA season.
During a mid-November pick-up game, he unfortunately injured his Achilles tendon. It lost him another full season and casts doubt on his future.
Klay Thompson chose to go to the gym with Manny Pacquiao, a boxing great.
Pacquiao is a huge admirer of basketball in general and the Warriors in particular, so he’ll be drawn to other players just as much as they’ll be drawn to him. That explains how he ended up hanging out with Thompson on Friday at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles.
Mike Tyson, Oscar de la Hoya, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Miguel Cotto, and, of course, Manny Pacquiao all trained in Freddie Roach’s gym, which has become legendary in boxing circles.
“It’s great to see @KlayThompson today at Wild Card Gym!” Pacquiao took to Twitter to express his feelings. “I promised Klay that if he taught me how to shoot, I’d teach him how to fight.”
Although it’s unlikely that just one or two sessions on the other’s training grounds would benefit each famous athlete much, the two had no doubt had some memorable moments throughout their careers.

Thompson should be wary of left-right combinations from Karl-Anthony Towns whenever the Warriors veteran receives the go-ahead to play next season, according to Pacquiao. According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Minnesota Timberwolves big man was another Wild Card visitor a day earlier, while Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson also visited throughout the week.
The celebrity appearances are expected to continue, but Pacquiao, 42, is running out of time. He will defend his WBC, IBF, and Ring Magazine welterweight titles against unbeaten Errol Spence Jr. on Aug. 21 in Las Vegas. Pacquiao will be fighting for the first time since beating Keith Thomas by split decision on July 20, 2019, to improve to 62-7-2.
