Giannis Antetokounmpo is a Greek professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks. He is 22 years old and just recently pulled off a historical feat at 22 years old that proved he was destined for greatness. Read more in detail here: giannis age.

Simply stated, Giannis Antetokounmpo is on his way to being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The Milwaukee Bucks player has already won two MVP Awards and just won his first NBA championship and was named Finals MVP. In addition, the Greek Freak has five All-Star appearances and has been named to the All-NBA team five times.

When Giannis first appeared in 2013, no one could have anticipated his rapid ascent. But, just a few years later, he created NBA history, ensuring his route to superstardom.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has made significant progress.

Antetokounmpo was a lanky talent with little experience when the Bucks selected him 15th overall in 2013. Despite this, the 19-year-old Greek made the All-Rookie team after averaging 24.6 minutes per game for a 15-win Bucks club.

Milwaukee knew they’d found something special in year two. Antetokounmpo started 71 games for a much-improved Bucks team, almost doubling his scoring average from 6.8 to 12.7. In addition, he improved his field-goal percentage from 41.4 to 49.1 while grabbing 6.7 rebounds. In his third season, Giannis averaged 16.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game.

Antetokounmpo was a talented player on a youthful squad that was far from competing heading into the 2016-17 season. By the conclusion of the season, he had established himself as the star of a squad that was on the verge of contending for the championship.

The 2016-17 season was a watershed moment for the Greek Freak.

Giannis Antetokounmpo improved his overall game in his fourth season. The 6-foot-11 big averaged 22.9 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game. He also had 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.9 blocks, all of which were career highs for him. So, what made his figures so historic?

Giannis became the first player in NBA history to finish in the top 20 in all five major categories at the age of 22. The Freak had 14th-best points, 15th-best rebounds, 18th-best assists, ninth-best steals, and fifth-best blocks. He also joined Hall of Famers Dave Cowens, Scottie Pippen, Kevin Garnett, and (future Hall of Famer) LeBron James as the sixth player in NBA history to lead his own club in all five categories.

In 2017, former head coach Jason Kidd stated, “He wants to be great.” “He thrives on the challenge of us entrusting him with greater responsibility, but I’d say his ability to listen to and absorb what we’re saying (and then) transfer it to the floor.” At 21 years old and 7 feet tall, to be handed the ball and be able to run the offense and comprehend what we’re trying to accomplish. There will be some wonderful moments as well as ones to learn from. He takes in not just the good, but also the negative.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo will undoubtedly go down in history.

Giannis’ historic 2016-17 season was only the beginning for him. Since then, he has made the All-Star squad every year, an All-NBA team every year, and an All-Defensive team every year but one.

During that time, Antetokounmpo became the league’s sixth foreign-born MVP. He became the only two-time champion after winning in both 2019 and 2020, joining Tim Duncan and Steve Nash.

Then there’s his journey to the NBA Finals with the Bucks in 2021. Giannis had a memorable series against the Phoenix Suns despite sustaining a knee injury in the Eastern Conference Finals. In six games, the 26-year-old recorded five double-doubles, back-to-back 40-point performances, and an all-time high 50-point performance in Game 6. The Freak matched Bob Pettit for the most points in an NBA Finals closeout game, and was unanimously voted Finals MVP.

Giannis was clearly destined for greatness based on his statistics from almost four years ago. And, luckily for basketball lovers, there is still much to look forward to.
