The Cleveland Cavaliers are likely to bring back traded guard Ricky Rubio, according to a report. The addition of Rubio would provide the Cavs with another ball-handling option and help them fill out their depth chart at point guard.

The “cavs trade rumors 2021” is a report that the Cleveland Cavaliers are likely to bring back Traded Guard Ricky Rubio. This is due to their need for a point guard and his high value on the market.

Cleveland Cavaliers 'Likely' to Bring Back Traded Guard Ricky Rubio, According to Report

The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off a comeback season in which they narrowly missed the NBA playoffs, and they’ll have a busy summer ahead of them. They need to acquire a couple more players to compliment their nucleus of Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley, either via free agency or the draft.

The Cavaliers, on the other hand, may already be planning one move.

Cleveland is allegedly interested in re-signing point guard Ricky Rubio, who was moved before to the NBA trade deadline.

Ricky Rubio was an important part of the Cavaliers’ comeback season. He served as a leader off the bench and offered a scoring punch to the club. With 13.1 points per game, the 11-year veteran matched his career best and added 6.6 assists. Cleveland began 20-13 through the first 33 games, and he appeared in 34 of them.

Rubio, on the other hand, tore his ACL in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 28. He was out for the remainder of the season, leaving a huge void on the Cavs’ roster. Before Rubio, Cleveland had already lost Collin Sexton to a season-ending injury, thus the position of guard was severely depleted. Rubio’s absence then contributed to the team’s final record of 24-25 and a loss in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Due to the Cavs’ lack of perimeter depth, they moved Rubio and his expiring contract to the Indiana Pacers at the trade deadline in exchange for Caris LeVert. Rubio’s ailment prevented him from playing a single game in Indy, thus it was mostly a financial decision.

And it now looks that he may be able to return to The Land.

A source told Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com that Rubio’s prospects of re-signing with the Cavaliers are “very probable.” He’s rehabilitating in Spain from his injuries and won’t be able to play until November or December (or possibly later), but the Cavs’ front management might be interested in getting their hands on the fifth overall choice in the 2009 NBA Draft.

So, what does it mean for the Cavaliers if Rubio returns?

Ricky Rubio would be a fantastic addition to the Cavaliers.

When healthy, the Cavs have a very good squad. Jarrett Allen has developed into an All-Star center, while Darius Garland has become a star. Evan Mobley has the ability to be the top player in the planet. When those three are combined with Caris LeVert, who is entering the last year of his deal, and a healthy Collin Sexton, Cleveland has a chance to make a splash.

However, it need further depth.

The Cavaliers don’t have another genuine point guard except Garland. Sexton has played the position before, but he’s a two-way player. Last season, Rubio not only scored when it counted, but he also led the offense like a captain. When Garland was on the bench, he helped Cleveland click on all cylinders, and when they shared the floor, he enabled the All-Star guard to play off the ball.

Yes, the Cavs will almost certainly make further moves. They have a lottery selection and are free to pursue other free agents. Ricky Rubio, on the other hand, may be just what they need to compete for titles. He isn’t a celebrity, but he is a superstar in his job, which is crucial when competing for trophies.
