Antonio Brown Sends Ben Roethlisberger a Bold Message After the Steelers Legend Retires From the NFL

After an 18-year career in the NFL, Ben Roethlisberger has announced his retirement. Antonio Brown was among the finest players with whom the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback shared the field. The seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver parted ways with the Steelers on sour terms, but he never lost faith in Big Ben.

Brown recently sent a strong message about their time playing together to the future Hall of Famer.

Ben Roethlisberger gets a nod from Antonio Brown (and himself)

Many NFL players dished out congratulatory messages to Ben Roethlisberger after the Pittsburgh Steelers great announced his retirement via Twitter.

Tom Brady, Bill Cowher, and a slew of other football veterans congratulated Big Ben on his illustrious career in the Steel City.

During his 18-year career, Roethlisberger has 64,085 passing yards, 418 touchdowns, and 211 interceptions. As the Steelers’ starting quarterback, he went 165-81-1 in his career.

Antonio Brown, a former wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, also took a moment to salute the two-time Super Bowl winner quarterback with a tweet of his own.

“The best duo in the NFL,” Brown remarked. “Congratulations, Legend.”

The two players spent nine years in Pittsburgh together and soon established themselves as one of the league’s most dangerous quarterback-wide receiver combinations.

In Pittsburgh, AB and Big Ben had a tremendous run together.

It’s unclear if Antonio Brown was referring to him and Ben Roethlisberger as the finest combo of all time or when they were playing together. The two players, on the other hand, established one of the most prolific teams of the contemporary age.

Brown was drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his professional life, it’s reasonable to say he much surpassed expectations. Roethlisberger had already spent six seasons in the league, so the Central Michigan graduate was given the chance to start his career with a proven quarterback.

In Pittsburgh, AB and Big Ben accomplished glory together. In nine seasons with the Steelers, Brown has 837 catches, 11,207 receiving yards, and 74 touchdowns (2010-2018). While catching passes from Roethlisberger, he led the NFL in catches twice, receiving yards twice, and touchdowns once.

The pair never won a title together, but they did make it to Super Bowl XLV, when the Steelers were defeated by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

Brown’s tenure with Roethlisberger was cut short by internal turmoil, but he was the quarterback’s most prolific pass-catcher.

Could Brown’s career have turned out differently if things with the Steelers had gone differently?

Antonio Brown is one of the best wide receivers in Pittsburgh Steelers history, as well as one of the best in the current era of the league. He had a tremendous run in Pittsburgh, but at the conclusion of his stay, he fell out of favor with the organization.

During the 2018 season, the four-time All-Pro selection’s fortunes began to deteriorate. On the field, he was a force to be reckoned with, but problems were growing off it. Brown had squabbles with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, among others. The Steelers traded him to the Oakland Raiders as a consequence of their failing relationship.

AB never played a single down with the Raiders, since the squad was in chaos from the minute he arrived. Brown subsequently signed with the New England Patriots after being released. However, he was only there for a brief period. Before being released, he only appeared in one game.

Brown’s career was in peril due to off-field troubles until Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rescued him. In the year 2020, he won the Super Bowl. His 2021 season, however, was cut short when he departed in the midst of a game.

Antonio Brown was once regarded as the finest wide receiver in the NFL. He never had the same amount of success with the Steelers as he had with them. According to AB’s ESPN interview, his connection with the organization was harmed by a lack of respect.

If the two sides could have worked things out, Brown may have been dominating for the next several seasons. Unfortunately, Ben Roethlisberger’s career came to an end without him ever playing alongside a No. 1 receiver.
