Aaron Rodgers has built up a reputation as one of the most down-to-earth athletes in the NFL. The Green Bay Packers quarterback is a fan favorite because of his tireless work ethic and no-nonsense demeanor. Every player has his points of stress. For Rodgers, it’s mental. In an interview with GQ’s Pete Prisco, the star spoke about the state of his mental health and how it’s impacted his life.

In an interview with ESPN, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers talked about how he dealt with mental health issues. Rodgers has shared on Instagram that he had sought professional help after experiencing depression and anxiety. “I had to get help because I didn’t want to be another NFL player that just kind of waddles around, doesn’t really know who he is,” Rodgers said. He continued: “If I don’t know who I am, I’m not going to be able to help kids that look up to me. I don’t want to be an example for kids that are going through what I went through.

The topic of NFL players and their mental health has recently come to the forefront thanks to players like Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and now Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Rodgers talked about his mental health and why it was important for him to take care of his mental health.

While the storm surrounding whether or not Aaron Rodgers will return in a Green Bay Packers uniform is still in the air, one thing is certain: The veteran quarterback is not deterred by it.

The Packers’ quarterback told ESPN how he dealt with the controversy surrounding his minicamp pass and how he handled it.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to work on my mental health, Rogers said. I haven’t had any episodes of depression or anything like that in terms of mental health.

I just try to think about what makes me look good. What habits can I create that make me feel the most in my body, the most present, the most happy? And that’s exactly what I did.

Duck Prescott talks about his mental health

The debate over the mental health of NFL players was sparked last year by the example of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott spoke about his mental health following the death of his brother Jace. Prescott talked about how he struggled with depression and how he was able to overcome his problems.

But one person who thinks Prescott should have kept his feelings to himself is Fox Sports commentator Skip Bayless.

Bayless felt that when Prescott talked about his depression, he sounded weak.

And although Fox Sports condemned Bayless, according to the Washington Post, they did not suspend or fire him for his comments.

Death of Junior Sioux and other NFL players

One of the reasons the NFL has been paying attention to the mental health of its players lately is the suicide of two of the league’s biggest stars, Junior Seau and Dave Duerson.

Sioux played for the New England Patriots and the San Diego Chargers. After leaving the NFL, Sioux struggled with his mental health and committed suicide years later.

Duerson spent most of his career with the Chicago Bears, then the New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals. According to the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, both players had impaired brain function at the time of their deaths. Many believe this is due to chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, which can lead to brain damage from too many concussions.

NBA star Kyrie Irving, who plays for the Brooklyn Nets, was also criticized by Stephen A. Smith for taking advantage of mental health days during the season.

One way to do this is to allow the players to express their feelings and listen to them.

How to get help: In the United States, call the National Office of Suicide Prevention at 1-800-273-8255. Or text 741-741 to speak with a trained crisis counselor via the toll-free text line.
